- Create an account and upload images to generate renderings;
- Purchase a subscription or credit pack; or

1. What information do we collect?
Personal information you disclose to us
In short: We collect personal information that you provide to us.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, when you participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise when you contact us. This includes:
- Account information: email address, password (stored only as a securely hashed value — never in plain text), and optionally your first name, last name, organization, and user type (for example, firm, independent designer, or student).
- Uploaded images and generated renderings: the reference images you upload and the renderings produced from them, along with any notes you add and the project names you create to organize them.
- Payment information: when you purchase a subscription or credit pack, payment card details are collected and processed directly by our third-party payment processor, which is PCI-DSS compliant. We do not store your full card number on our systems. We retain a customer reference identifier, your plan, and your credit balance.
Sensitive information. We do not process sensitive information.
All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.
Information automatically collected
In short: Some information — such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address and/or browser and device characteristics — is collected automatically when you visit our Services.
We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use our Services, and other technical information. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Services, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.
We also collect diagnostic information when errors occur, through a third-party error-monitoring provider, so that we can identify and fix problems. We configure this service to redact sensitive fields — including passwords and image data — before any error report is transmitted.
2. How do we process your information?
In short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law.
We process your personal information for a variety of reasons, depending on how you interact with our Services, including:
- To facilitate account creation and authentication, and otherwise manage user accounts.
- To deliver and facilitate delivery of services to you — including transmitting your uploaded images to our AI provider in order to generate renderings, and storing your renderings so you can access them later.
- To respond to user inquiries and offer support.
- To send administrative information to you — such as email verification codes, password reset links, and changes to our terms and policies.
- To fulfil and manage your orders, payments, subscriptions, and credit balances.
- To prevent fraud and abuse — including verifying that an email address is real before granting free trial credits, and rate-limiting requests.
- To identify usage trends and improve our Services.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
3. When and with whom do we share your personal information?
In short: We share information with the service providers that operate parts of VSTLA on our behalf. We do not sell your personal information.
We rely on the following categories of third-party service providers ("subprocessors") to operate the Services:
- AI image generation provider: receives your uploaded reference image and the associated prompt in order to generate a rendering.
- Application hosting provider: runs the VSTLA application.
- Database hosting provider: stores your account, projects, and renderings.
- Payment processor: processes payments and manages subscriptions.
- Transactional email provider: sends verification codes, password resets, and welcome emails.
- Error monitoring provider: receives diagnostic error reports, with sensitive fields redacted.
Each of these providers is bound by contractual obligations to process your information only as instructed by us and to keep it secure. A current list of the specific providers we use is available on request by emailing hello@vstla.com.
We may also need to share your personal information in the following situations:
- Business transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
- Legal obligations. We may disclose your information where we are legally required to do so in order to comply with applicable law, governmental requests, a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process.
4. Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?
In short: We use only the cookies necessary to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
We use a single essential cookie to maintain your login session. Without it, you would be signed out on every page load. This cookie is strictly necessary for the operation of the Services.
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not permit third parties to use tracking technologies on our Services to serve or tailor advertisements to you.
5. How do we handle your social logins?
In short: We do not offer social login.
VSTLA accounts are created with an email address and password only. We do not offer registration or sign-in through third-party social media accounts, and we do not receive profile information from social media providers.
6. Is your information transferred internationally?
In short: Yes — we may transfer, store, and process your information in countries other than your own.
We are based in Ontario, Canada. The third-party service providers described in section 3 operate infrastructure that may be located in the United States, the European Union, and other regions. Regardless of your location, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored by, and processed by us and by those providers in those regions.
If you are a resident in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom (UK), or Switzerland, these countries may not necessarily have data protection laws as comprehensive as those in your country. However, we will take all necessary measures to protect your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
7. How long do we keep your information?
In short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless otherwise required by law.
We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements).
When you delete your account, your account record, uploaded images, generated renderings, and projects are permanently deleted from our active databases. We may retain limited records where required to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations — for example, transaction records retained by our payment processor for tax purposes.
When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.
8. Do we collect information from minors?
In short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age.
We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age, nor do we knowingly sell such personal information. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18. If we learn that personal information from users less than 18 years of age has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. 9. What are your privacy rights?
In short: You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time, depending on your country, province, or state of residence.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to correct inaccuracies, to request deletion, to object to or restrict processing, and to request a portable copy of your data.
Withdrawing your consent: If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, which may be express and/or implied consent depending on the applicable law, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us using the contact details provided below. However, please note that this will not affect the lawfulness of the processing before its withdrawal, nor, when applicable law allows, will it affect the processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.
Account information
If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account, or terminate your account, you can:
- Log in to your Account page to update your profile details;
- Use Download My Data on your Account page to receive a copy of your data;
- Use Delete My Account on your Account page to permanently delete your account and all associated renderings and projects; or
- Contact us at hello@vstla.com.
Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. However, we may retain some information in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our legal terms, and/or comply with applicable legal requirements.
10. Controls for do-not-track features
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this Privacy Policy.
11. Do we make updates to this notice?
In short: Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
